Polson, MT has a population 5,000 and is located on the south shore of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.
Wal-Mart is seeking a zone change from low density residential to highway. They have submitted their application to the City of Polson. On May 9th, 2006 the City County Planning Board held its first public hearing to make a recommendation to the City Council on the zoning and subdivison of the land. The board recommended denying the zone change!
Lake County First has held two meetings to organize the opposition to this inappropriate development on pristine open space.
