*Update*
This just in - the Moscow City Council voted 3-2 last night to deny the requested rezone of 77 acres on the East end of town, a rezone which would have opened the door to a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Thank you's to Council members Bob Stout, John Dickinson and Aaron Ament who voted to preserve Moscow’s character, local economy and open space.
“Yes to Moscow, No to Wal-Mart” is not done yet. The group is committed to passing a size cap ordinance to protect Moscow’s future.
Wal-Mart is fighting feverishly to convert 70 acres of farmland into a 225,000 square foot Supercenter after being denied by the Moscow city council.
The citizens of Moscow have made their voices heard in this process. A group called “Yes to Moscow, No to Super Wal-Mart” has organized the community to preserve their valuable farmland, protect local business and ensure the future of their community.
On Monday, May 15th, the city council will meet for further deliberation.
