The Neptune Beach city council approved a 60,000 sq. ft. limit by a 4-1 vote on first reading. This ordinance is subject to a second reading and Wal-Mart has threatened litigation if it passes.
On Monday, June 20th, the Planning Board is scheduled to meet to consider the application. Following the Planning Board hearing the City Council will consider the development plan.
The citizens of Neptune Beach have formed “Save Our Beach Town” to provide a venue for citizens of to voice their concerns about the proposed Wal-Mart development to their elected officials. They are asking concerned citizens to sign a petition, contact their elected officials and write letters to the editor.
