Environmental Protection Ordinance, History of Violations (1998)
Topics: Environment | Zoning Regulations
Wayne, Pennsylvania. This local ordinance prohibits corporations from doing business in the township if they have a consistent history of violating environmental laws. The purpose of this ordinance is to “protect the citizens…from corporations that have committed repetitious illegal activities…by ensuring that any corporation planning to do business has a history of complying with laws passed to protect the natural and human environment.” A corporation has to submit its “compliance history” that lists each violation of environmental laws or regulations committed in the past 15 years. If a corporation has three or more violations in the past 15 years, the town’s supervisors have the authority to prohibit a corporation from doing business in the town.
