Always backpedaling. Always.
From the Associated Press, via USA Today:
Wal-Mart Stores is shutting down the automated system that creates movie recommendations on its shopping website after the system randomly linked a Planet of the Apes DVD to films about African-Americans including Martin Luther King Jr., the company said Thursday.
Wal-Mart said it had fixed the immediate problem by removing what it called the “offensive combinations” from a Web page on http://www.walmart.com advertising a boxed DVD set, Planet Of The Apes: The Complete TV Series.
Under “Similar Items,” the page linked shoppers to four movies about the lives of the slain civil-rights leader, actress Dorothy Dandridge, boxer Jack Johnson and singer Tina Turner.

Poor old Andrew, it is all about money, money and more money. They have it, Andrew wants it!
Get your bags packed Andrew, the Judge has some tickets for your new accommodations.
Wake Up Wal-Mart, supported by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, and Wal-Mart Watch, which draws support from a wider network, Andrew Grossman, executive director at Wal-Mart Watch and former executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
The FEC has formally determined that Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign treasurer, Andrew Grossman is legally responsible for the three false FEC reports that Hillary’s finance director, David Rosen, was criminally charged and tried for in mid-2005. Mr. Grossman signed a “Conciliation Agreement” with the FEC on December 13, 2005, admitting his culpability, and agreeing to pay a civil fine and amend his false reports to reflect the $721,000 that he failed to report since October, 2000.
This admission of responsibility by Hillary Clinton’s campaign treasurer comes after FIVE years of denials and deceptions by Hillary’s staff and her campaign officials, beginning with Hillary spokesman Howard Wolfson’s false statements to the Washington Post days after Event 39 was produced and paid for by Paul in August 2000, and proceeding through false testimony given at the trial of finance director David Rosen for the offenses that Grossman is now taking responsibility for!
On December 29, 2005, the FEC notified Peter Paul that it had concluded its 4 1/2 year investigation into his complaint regarding Hillary Clinton’s false reports to the FEC which intentionally hid his identity as her largest contributor and the full amount of his more than $1.2 million cash in-kind contributions to her 2000 Senate campaign.
The FEC found “there was probable cause to believe New York Senate 2000 and Andrew Grossman, in his official capacity as treasurer, violated 2 U.S.S Sec 434(b) of the Federal Election Camp[aign Act of 1971 and 11 C.F.R. Sec 102(c)(8)(i)(A). On December 13, 2005, a conciliation agreement signed by Andrew Grossman was accepted by the Commission..”

I am sorry, I meant to add this at the bottom of my post and forgot to ask if that is the same Andrew?
Does anyone know if Hilary’s Andrew Grossman is the same Andrew Grossman from walmartwatch?
I found that story on a peter paul blog site this morning and wanted to get more information about it.
Thank you for any help with this search.

And this has zero to do with the exact topic at hand. All you Wal-Mart Apologists slam WMW for pulling up “fluff” stories, but you run around cut & pasting the same story all over the board, whether it has relevance or not.
WMW pulls up every news story on WM. Do they put their own spin on it? Duh! Does WM put their spin on all their stories? Oh, God forbid they’d never do that. They only have their War Room of spin doctors telling you how to think; their way

Gee, dave?
Does the topic really matter?
I mean all of your stories say the same thing over and over.
God created Wal*Mart and Wal*Mart ate a apple and then you guys step in to save the world? Right?
I had a question, and you had a little flip-flop session, as always. So, I guess that means yes to my question?
Does that also mean your protected WMW is looking for a new leader?
I hear Wade is looking for a job?
Hell, I might apply, I could have organized a union shop in Wal*Mart about $80 million ago.
It is funny how you bring up the spin stuff, so have been always had this much hate in you are did it just grow the first time you failed to get laid?
Just a little exit thought for you dave, you catch files with honey.
Have a nice day.

It seems to me, if the union wanted in WMT, they would not bash the company and find another way. I will always shop WMT and I don’t appreciate the union trying to drive prices up.

Second time today I’ve run into pro WM posters here taking shots at Hilary Clinton as if she had something to do with this site. I don’t know if you know it Greedyunions but Hilary was once a member of WM’s board. Think you need to find someone else other than her to pick on.

“I have a dream. I have a dream that one day our country’s corporations won’t be judged by the color of ink on the bottom line of their annual report, but by the source of the content and quality in their distribution centers and stores.” Hey all you pro Wal-Mart Trolls...of Wal-Mart’s more than 6,000 suppliers, 80% or more are from China and other foreign countries.

Get real please. Do you really think that some person(s) would intentionally place something as vulgar as this on a site that is visited or shopped millions of times a day?
Mistakes are made, WMW certainly makes them and so does WM. This site and the union protocol backing it are doing nothing to better anyone. Nothing at all except spreading hate and discontent. Yet, the WMW backers are the people that want to represent the same company and the folks they are crapping on. How does that make any sense?
What have you made or done this week to better the life for anyone? Really- tell us.

screwed
If the SEIU is in the red, do you continue to operate that way? I assume that you keep your personal budget in the black. The bottom line is important to everyone.
You have repeatedly quoted that 80% of WM’s suppliers are from China. A more important number is what percentage of their purchases are from China. As I remember in the Frontline movie, about $20B was bought from China. WM’s annual sales are over $250B, also from the movie. After figuring in their markup they buy less than 10% from China.
Would you care to comment or will you just continue to insult anyone who challenges you?

Oh certainly I’d be clad to comment on your posts Big T. Like I said before you’re no challenge! You still show signs of selective perception.
The $20 billion you claim Wal-Mart buys from China was more than likely way too low. If you in fact were listening when Hedrick Smith (the PBS Correspondent) was trying to get that lying snake, VP Ray Bracy from Wal-Mart, to verify whether the number could be $30 billion or more, Mr. Bracy not only had trouble looking the reporter in the eyes, (he frequently would gance down and to the left)...by the way, this is one of the classic signs of spotting a liar… but Mr. Bracy stated, “I think it could be higher or it could be lower. The other thing you have to remember is that we are growing significantly in terms of sales, so next year it will be higher, and the year after that it is likely to be higher as well.” (Way to dodge the question Ray Bracy)
You again choose to see what you want to see, and hear what you want to hear Big T. How come you didn’t mention the trade deficit with China is well over $120 billion and headed even higher? How come you didn’t quote Professor Gary Gereffi who stated: “Wal-Mart and China are a joint venture, and both are determined to dominate the U.S. economy as much as possible.” (?)

So screwed, even using your possible high side $30B, the percentage of products which WM actually buys from China is less than 13%. That doesn’t sound nearly as bad as 80% of suppliers does it?
If WM quit buying from China, other retailers would very quickly make use of the WM suppliers. They would of course probably pay less than WM for them. Now the real puzzler? Is it better that this new supplier not pay less for the goods? Previously WMW was proposing that WM should pay more to China vendors. Or the other alternative that they pay more than WM and further increase the trade deficit.

What we have here, in the case of WM, is abuse of the free enterprise system.
Abuse it and you will lose it!!!
When will the rich people ever learn!!!
