“The Republican red scare If McCain and Palin want to play the guilt by association game, their own questionable ties must be examined. “ The Republicans “October surprise” predictably unveiled itself last week as a virulent smear campaign of racially-tinged, fear-mongering insinuation. In a desperate attempt to deflect attention from an economic crisis and a faltering campaign, John McCain and Sarah Palin have begun shamelessly using Obama’s “blackness” and alleged “Muslimy-ness” to suggest the biracial senator from Illinois is an extremist terrorist.

During the second, monumentally flaccid presidential debate, a condescending and smarmy McCain pointed to Obama and referred to him as “that one”.

It would have been truly maverick had McCain simply dropped the ambiguous rhetoric, boarded his professed straight talk express and instead called him out as “that quasi Muslim,” “that Hussein” or “that guy whose name rhymes with Osama”.

Not to be out-mavericked, hockey mom and moose hunting vice-presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, recently stated that Obama might “pal around with terrorists” due to his tangential connection to William Ayers, founder of the 1960s radical group the Weather Underground.
Undoubtedly, since both mavericks have now brought that up, one naturally assumes they adhere to the principle that a candidate’s “association” should presumptively reflect his character. Employing their own standard, let’s investigate Governor Palin’s and Senator McCain’s character based purely on their friends and associations.

Regarding extremist religious mentors, Sarah Palin’s pastor, Larry Kroon of Wasilla Bible Church in Alaska, beat Obama’s pastor in a “God damn-off” by suggesting the sinful conduct of Americans would invite God’s wrath:

Listen, [God] is gonna’ deal with all the inhabitants of the earth. He is gonna’ strike out His hand against, yes, Wasilla; and Alaska; and the United States of America. There’s no exceptions here—there’s none. It’s all.

Not to be outdone in associating with angry, reactionary religious leaders, Senator McCain originally courted influential pastor John Hagee’s support for his candidacy. The same pastor - known for his anti-Catholic, homophobic and anti-Semitic remarks - bellowed these tolerant and benevolent words of wisdom:

It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God’s chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day …

Although McCain conveniently renounced this endorsement after a media firestorm, he originally said: “All I can tell you is that I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee’s support”. One wonders what the crucial, yet undecided, Jewish voters in Florida think about such an association.

Sarah Palin, a political neophyte who made her national introduction only a month ago, recently stated that “it’s really important for Americans to start knowing who the ‘real’ Barrack Obama is.” Apparently, two years of strenuous vetting by the media have conclusively shown Obama has never been a card carrying, registered member of the Islamic faith. Furthermore, he attended an Indonesian elementary school, or madrassa, during his youth, which was conclusively proven NOT to be a jihadi, Islamist terrorist training camp.

Meanwhile, Governor Palin, already embroiled in Troopergate[AND found guilty of ethics violation,an impeachable offense in Alaska*~]and Bridge to Nowhere controversies, has aggressively avoided impromptu press questions, instead opting to sit for only two thoroughly embarrassing one-on-one interviews. However, we do know that Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd, twice registered as a member of the Alaska Independence party, a fierce states’ rights group that favors Alaska’s secession from the US, which is a treasonous and criminal act showing disloyalty to one’s nation.

Yet, true character has been exclusively reserved for John McCain, a man who takes immense pride in his sage wisdom borne from years of experience as a war veteran and US senator. He assures us his clarion judgment will help steer America from the brink of economic disaster towards a new destination of financial prosperity.

However, he conveniently fails to mention his association with Charles Keating, he of the infamous Keating Five savings and loan scandal that cost the federal government nearly $2bn and defrauded nearly 23,000 bond-holders, including senior citizens who lost their life savings. Although Senator McCain was cleared for his involvement in the scandal, the Senate Ethics Committee specifically criticised his “poor judgment”.

Perhaps that poor judgment reflects his choice of advisors, such as campaign manager Rick Davis, co-founder of a lobbying firm, Davis Manafort, that was paid $15,000 a month by Freddie Mac for consulting. According to the New York Times, “Davis took a leave from Davis Manafort for the presidential campaign, but as an equity holder continues to benefit from its income”.

Furthermore, two of McCain’s top advisers were recently lobbyists for Ameriquest Mortgage, a lender involved in the recent mortgage meltdown. In March, the Daily News reviewed disclosure forms and reported: “John Green, [Senator McCain’s] chief liaison to Congress, and Wayne Berman, his national finance co-chairman, billed more than $720,000 in lobbying fees from 2005 through last year to Ameriquest Mortgage through their lobbying firm”.

One wonders how McCain can reform the economy when his closest associates consulted for some of the players deeply involved in the current crisis.

These questions warrant intelligent inquiry, honest disclosure and thorough analysis. Who has time for such endeavours when fanning the flames of fear-mongering, racial hysteria and smear politics is so much more effective?

It figures O.C.S. would take the bait.  This is just another useless WMW posting, and a distraction from the Bigger Issues this country is facing.  You disappoint me, Luke West.  I thought for sure you’d ask Alex Goldschmidt for the file photo of “Chucky” to go along with your post.

Speaking of “Chucky” (1988), you haven’t seen the film by any chance have you, O.C.S.?  The next thing you’re going to want us to believe, is that Barack Obama has used his voodoo powers to to transfer his soul into the Wal-Mart dolls.

Screwed: I thought Sarah Palin’s witch doctor/pastor was the possessor of magical powers. Can we expect Pastor Muthee to be prevaled upon to dispel the dolls’ “demonic spirits “?

It’s pretty much a case of you see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear.

There has always been speculation of that these “images” were the work of disgruntled animators who were fired by Disney.  Others have contended that this is deliberately done by Disney to sell more movies to adults who are the real target audience. But “corrupting the morals of children,” gimme a break!

Two of my favorites are:

1) From the Lion King: Simba is talking to his father with night stars in the background.  Supposedly if you connect the stars a penis is formed.

2) From The Little Mermaid: While Ariel is getting married to her Prince Eric, people swear they can see the bishop “getting a hard on.”

Sounds like the Obama’s are hard at work!

The Rev. Jerry Falwell provoked laughter last week when he chastised ‘’Teletubbies,’’ a popular public television program for children under the age of 3, accusing one of the cuddly, cooing, antenna-topped characters, the purple one named Tinky Winky, of ‘’modeling the gay life style.’’

The Falwell furor happened to erupt during the annual Toy Fair in New York, which began last Monday and ends today.

At the fair, Mr. Viselman presented the newest Tubby plush toy, one with a rudimentary Microsoft computer in its tummy.

An article in the February edition of Mr. Falwell’s publication, National Liberty Journal, argues that Tinky Winky is meant to be gay because he has a boy’s voice yet carries a red purse, he is purple (’’the gay-pride color’’) and his antenna is a triangle (’’the gay-pride symbol’’).

On the ‘’Today’’ show on NBC on Thursday, Mr. Falwell told Katie Couric that to have ‘’little boys running around with purses and acting effeminate and leaving the idea that the masculine male, the feminine female is out, and gay is O.K.’’ is something ‘’which Christians do not agree with.’’

Mr. Viselman, also on the program, countered: ‘’We’re talking about a show for 1- to 4-year-olds. If we had homosexuals in it, they wouldn’t even know it,’’ adding quickly, ‘’But we don’t.’’

After a busy day at Toy Fair, Mr. Silver said Friday that Mr. Falwell had probably helped the Teletubbies’ business.

‘’All he’s done is make a mockery of himself, and if anything put more attention on Teletubbies and increases sales,’’ he said. ~~~~NYT~~~~~~~~~NOTE: Yep, the GOP Fundamentalists have a history of this.

Seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first...’ However, it was reported

Most alarming is Michele Obama’s use of the terms ‘separationist’ and

Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to

What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she’s first

The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action

Designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of
Their enrollments.’

The conclusion of her thesis is alarming. 
Michelle Obama’s poll of black alumni concludes that other black students
At Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness.  But rather than
Celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common
American culture more than they value the color of their skin.  ‘I hoped that
These findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of
Identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational
Path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a
Certain level of identification with the black community.  However, these
Findings do not support this possibility.’
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire? 
Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see
Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted
With one another.
The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama’s thoughts and
World view seen through a race-based prism.  This is a very
Divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold
Damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama
Administration.

Michelle Obama’s intellectually refined racism should give all
Americans pause for deep concern.
Now maybe she’s changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to
Grind with America .  Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously
RACIST comment about American whites?  I am sure that it will.

Here is a BLACK Professors take on Obama- Is he a Racist too?

Many years ago, a great hitter named Paul Waner was nearing the end of his long career. He entered a ballgame with 2,999 hits—one hit away from the landmark total of 3,000, which so many hitters want to reach, but which relatively few actually do reach.

Waner hit a ball that the fielder did not handle cleanly but the official scorer called it a hit, making it Waner’s 3,000th. Paul Waner then sent word to the official scorer that he did not want that questionable hit to be the one that put him over the top.

The official scorer reversed himself and called it an error. Later Paul Waner got a clean hit for number 3,000.

What reminded me of this is the great fervor that many seem to feel over the prospect of the first black President of the United States .

No doubt it is only a matter of time before there is a black president, just as it was only a matter of time before Paul Waner got his 3,000th hit. The issue is whether we want to reach that landmark so badly that we are willing to overlook how questionably that landmark is reached.

Paul Waner had too much pride to accept a scratch hit. Choosing a President of the United States is a lot more momentous than a baseball record. We the voters need to have far more concern about who we put in that office that holds the destiny of a nation and of generations yet unborn.

There is no reason why someone as arrogant, foolishly clever and ultimately dangerous as Barack Obama should become president—especially not at a time when the threat of international terrorists with nuclear weapons looms over 300 million Americans.

Many people seem to regard elections as occasions for venting emotions, like cheering for your favorite team or choosing a Homecoming Queen.

The three leading candidates for their party’s nomination are being discussed in terms of their demographics—race, sex and age—as if that is what the job is about.

One of the painful aspects of studying great catastrophes of the past is discovering how many times people were preoccupied with trivialities when they were teetering on the edge of doom. The demographics of the presidency are far less important than the momentous weight of responsibility that office carries.

Just the power to nominate federal judges to trial courts and appellate courts across the country, including the Supreme Court, can have an enormous impact for decades to come. There is no point feeling outraged by things done by federal judges, if you vote on the basis of emotion for those who appoint them.

Barack Obama has already indicated that he wants judges who make social policy instead of just applying the law. He has already tried to stop young violent criminals from being tried as adults.

Although Senator Obama has presented himself as the candidate of new things—using the mantra of ‘change’ endlessly—the cold fact is that virtually everything he says about domestic policy is straight out of the 1960s and virtually everything he says about foreign policy is straight out of the 1930s.

Protecting criminals, attacking business, increasing government spending, promoting a sense of envy and grievance, raising taxes on people who are productive and subsidizing those who are not—all this is a re-run of the 1960s.

We paid a terrible price for such 1960s notions in the years that followed, in the form of soaring crime rates, double-digit inflation and double-digit unemployment. During the 1960s, ghettoes across the countries were ravaged by riots from which many have not fully recovered to this day.

The violence and destruction were concentrated not where there was the greatest poverty or injustice but where there were the most liberal politicians, promoting grievances and hamstringing the police.

Internationally, the approach that Senator Obama proposes—including the media magic of meetings between heads of state—was tried during the 1930s. That approach, in the name of peace, is what led to the most catastrophic war in human history.

Everything seems new to those too young to remember the old and too ignorant of history to have heard about it.
