I have always liked shopping at Walmart, but for the past year it has not been as enjoyable as in the past. The store started raising its prices until it is most certainly not the lowest priced place to shop, just the most convenient for most of us. It has ran any number of stores out of business and after accomplishing that , it is cutting goods available and raising the prices on what is left stocking their shelves. So, how high are these prices going to go? Has this been their plan all along? To get rid of most of the competition and then start raising the prices up and up and up. Walmart’s image of helping the average family on a budget live a better life has been shot down , by them. They are getting greedy and trying to controll what you can buy, by limiting just very few brands on their shelves. I don’t like the new face of Walmart...or is it the old face without the mask? You decide.

I think you know the answer to that, Reta.

Reta,
“So, how high are these prices going to go?”
I guess that will depend on how many more ‘class action’ lawsuits are put against them, how much more pressure there is, for them to ‘go green’ faster, raise wages and benefits, add MORE employees and raise their hours, create product testing and recycling centers, and change their buying habits to ‘Go American’!!
Sometimes, people want the best of both worlds (have their cake and eat it too)!! Just like with our government, we want less taxes, but more services, the difference is, that the government can keep operating with huge deficits, Wal-Mart can’t!! Just remember, in the end, someone always ends up paying the bill!! So, do you want Wal-Mart to be socially responsible or LOW PRICES, you can’t have both!! Think about it, could YOU increase your spending, without raising your income?

I love Walmart. Walmart has done more good for our economy than bad. Walmart has been responsible for keeping inflation in check by providing products and services at very low cost. While everything else seems to be going up, i.e. the price of fuel, my state and federal taxes, my heating costs, the prices at Walmart have been going down. How can this be a bad thing? I think all of you people who are opposed to Walmart are idiots who have nothing better to do than to bitch and complain about a well run, well organized, professional company like Walmart.

Yes, and that is why the Republicans lost the last elections, they were acting like Democrats!! But, the problem is, instead of cutting wasteful spending, the Democrats, want to raise taxes and increase spending, they won’t be in power very long either with that thinking!! Think about it the average citizen works until the end of MAY, just to pay their taxes, 5 months worth of pay, goes to taxes and you get to keep the other 7 months of pay, pretty soon, it will be 50/50!! I remember back when I was young, I was told that the problem with communism, was that the government took half of everything the workers made and that’s why it was a bad system!!

Once in a great while you get it right RDS.
“Think about it the average citizen works until the end of MAY, just to pay their taxes, 5 months worth of pay, goes to taxes and you get to keep the other 7 months of pay, pretty soon, it will be 50/50!!” ~RDS
The only problem is you buy into all that Libertarian crap and you think this is where the answer will be found.

Isn’t America,in great part, also underwriting Mexico’s economy?I wont even go into the taxes that are being spent in the trillions upon Iraq-when American children are denied health care in their own country-This is taxation with misrepresentation!

Screwedby,
“The only problem is you buy into all that Libertarian crap and you think this is where the answer will be found.”
No, I don’t think that will solve ALL of our problems, but, it is a big part!! I also don’t think that we can continue on this path of ‘raise wages, raise prices’ that we have been doing for the last 50+ years!! Now that we are in a global economy, (like it or not), we need to get our economy under control and bring wages, benefits and prices to a point where we are competitive with the rest of the world before ALL our jobs will go out of the country!! You can see this happening in the auto industry, they either have to give back or lose their jobs to foreign competition!!
ddrb,
“Well,Isn’t China a Communist country ?”
You missed my point, which was, that we are reaching a point we used to chide communist countries for!! As for China being communist, do you really want to start another “Cold War” with China, like we did with Russia for 50+ years? Wouldn’t it be better, to work with them and show them the benefits of ‘capitalism’, than to worry about ‘warheads’ being aimed at us?

RDS:Do you really think WE are GOING to show them the benefits of Capitalism???What do you mean, you think by now they arent teaching us!!!Man,they own the manufacturing sector-how about the disadvantage we have in the dollarvs.yen,You need a check up from the neck up if you think we are the ones in charge.

P.S.What makes you think China isnt MORE likely to aim warheads once they’re in total control-just protecting their investment, right,RDS?(Thats when the “Student” will teach the master!)

ddrb,
The fact that they are embracing ‘capitalism’ already, is proof that they can change, Russia did!! And, how do you protect your market, customer base and investment by bombing it? Does that make sense? It has been shown, that once people get used to a better lifestyle, they tend to want that to continue!! Now, if you were talking about the middle east, that’s a whole different story!!

BTW: All things being equal, people tend to stay in their homeland, it’s only when things become unequal that they tend to want to go towards some place better!!

Right, so isn’t that a good enough reason to help build up the economies of other countries, so they STAY there and maybe most will go back home?

ddrb,
“Thats not what OUR government is supposed to be doing-we should be building our own economy”
Sometimes, you have to tear down an old building, to build a new one, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet or make 3 right turns to go left!! We are changing our economy, so changes require new ways of doing things!! Sorry, that you and others fail to see that!! Just like when we moved out of the Agriculture Age, things had to change!! I realize, that it is hard to let go of the past, but, it has to be done, otherwise, we will end up an isolated island in the global world, you can’t win if you are not in the game!! Just look how much the internet is changing the way we do things, should we put a stop to it and keep doing what we’ve always done in the past?

I hate Walmart. Walmart has done more bad for our economy than good. Walmart has been irresponsible for impoverishing their employees to keep products and services at very low cost. While everything else seems to be going up, i.e. the price of fuel, my state and federal taxes, my heating costs, the prices at Walmart have been going up as well. How can this be a good thing? I think all of you people who are in love with Walmart are unpatriotic fools who have no ability or desire to figure out what is really going on with a taxpayer subsidies guzzling, tax evading, poverty creating, Chinese communist supporting economic whorehouse company like Walmart. Start paying attention with a little time to serious corporate malfeasance. America.
