Carl Pope’s take on Wal-Mart introducing energy efficient measures.

It sounds like WMW thinks that Walmart may be a trend sitter.  Walmart is doing something good.  In addition they are anticipating.  How is this something that WMW is critical of, except that WMW will be critical regardless of what Walmart does?

With WalFart’s current track record, it’s not WHAT they’re doing but WHY they are doing it.

I think that Carl Pope’s statement is less an indictment of Wal-Mart than it is a statement about oil.  He’s basically saying if Wal-Mart which is beyond cheap and cuts corners like no other, is worried about this, than we should all be worried.  Gee, what a profound revelation, we never should have used fossil fuels in the first place, and we almost didn’t, but the mega rich (I guess they were the equivalent of Wal-Mart at the time) realized it’s profit/political control potential and now we’re in this mess.
