Screwedby,

Do YOU get a cut off this Starz deal?  Or, did they have to give it to Starz for FREE, or did they Pay Starz to get it shown?

RDS,

Interesting thing—both Starz and Encore are “pay” TV networks which are usually included as part of the most expensive programming tiers at the nation’s big cable and satellite companies.

To break it down for those who may have trouble understanding:

The only people who will be able to see this movie, are those who can afford the $50-plus a month programming packages from their cable/satellite provider.

Question: Which hurts Wal-Mart more, the loss of a customer that can afford “$50-plus a month programming packages” or one that can’t?

Current data indicates “the average Wal-Mart customer earns $35,000 a year” and since we know a substantial percentage of Wal-Mart customers earn considerably less than $35K, there must be quite a few that earn more.

The Anti Wal-Mart Movement wants to get those upscale customers out to make more room for you truly poor people who can’t afford to shop anywhere else.

Ken V,

“The Anti Wal-Mart Movement wants to get those upscale customers out...”~Ken V in Texas

Is that, in any way, similar to the way you guys have been “showing the door” to the people who has opinions that you don’t agree with?

Ken V,

“The Anti Wal-Mart Movement wants to get those upscale customers out to make more room for you truly poor people who can’t afford to shop anywhere else”

I thought you said that the ‘upscale’ people DON’T shop at Wal-Mart!!  Besides, there is plenty of room for everyone at Wal-Mart, if not, they will build more stores!!  You don’t want to help the ‘truely poor’, you just don’t want the ‘truely poor’ to MIX and associate with the ‘upscale’ people, you are an ‘elitist”!!  Sort of, the ‘poor’ people NEED to shop here and the ‘upscale’ people NEED to shop there!!  How about signs that say, POOR ONLY or UPSCALE ONLY!!  Does the word BIGOT, sound familiar?

Nick might be able to help you out there, RDS.  Last time I saw his “list” it was getting pretty long… “nazis,” “fem-nazis,” “gays,” “abortionists.” ...let’s not leave out the “Anti Wal-Mart movement.

“showing the door”

Eureka, Lightning Bill, I think you’ve swerved onto the difference between “the third degree” and the Bum’s Rush!

The Herculean struggle between Wal-Mart and unions is rich with tales that have become legend, but none more so than
..... “The Stolen Banana”.

Back in early 2000, seven Wal-Mart meatcutters in Jacksonville, Texas voted to join the United Food and Commercial Workers. This represented the FIRST toe in the door for unions anywhere in the Wal-Mart world. Rather than allowing this crack in the dike to remain, Wal-Mart announced (11 days later) that all in-store meatcutting would cease and prepackaged meat would be sold instead. The meatcutters were then reassigned, but Wal-Mart didn’t stop there.

The story goes that Sidney Smith, a meatcutter with an unblemished 55-year record in the retail industry, asked his manager for permission to buy a box of partially spoiled bananas for a flat cost of 50 cents. The manager agreed and marked the box at the agreed price. On his way to the checkout, Smith ate one of the bananas and was summarily fired for THEFT!

The only judgment rendered in this case came from the Texas Workforce Commission Appeal Tribunal which found that Wal-Mart had “wrongly denied unemployment benefits” to Smith.

“In upholding Smith’s right to unemployment benefits, the Texas tribunal said that it was reasonable for Smith to believe he was not committing theft by eating a banana while it was being purchased and that the company “failed to establish misconduct” on his part.”

Data

I am not a bigot. But I do despise the following groups”

1. Feminazis
2. Militant Gay groups
3. Black Panthers
4. KKK
5. Liberals
6. Illegal Immigrants
7. Muslim fanatics
8. ACLU nuts
9. Communists
10. People who betray the US (spies, traitors, corrupt politicians and crooked defense contractors).

If you are a decent, moral American who believes in limited government, working for what you have, strict interpretation of the Constitution and strong support for our military, you are in my camp. I have no use for spoiled, rich white kids who hate their parents, ACLU members who hate our police and military and Muslims who hate the US.

Pretty straightforward, eh?

Yeah, Nick, it is and if you’re not a bigot you’ll do until one comes along.

Hey Rush/Nick,

I served my country with distinction and despise the same groups you do except #10 were I made a little mistake as a right wing Republican with all the same moral values you hold defending the WalMart capitalistic right of faking family values to screw people and manipulate businesses with a bribe menu just like a subsidies buffet.

You are my kind of people Nick.

No “buffets” for Wal-Mart!

Hey Randall “Randy” “Duke” Cunningham-- I tend to agree with you there, except for ONE thing:  When it comes to subsidies or local and government payoffs to Wal-Mart, it’s NOT a “buffet,” it’s a seven course sit down dinner!
