Wal-Mart All-Star Collectible Cards: Tom Schoewe, CFO
In the week that Wal-Mart announced a 5.8% rise in sales, was coronated largest company in the world AND inducted in to the Corporate Hall of Shame, it only seemed fitting to unveil our collectible card of the man who made it all happen made a really nice pie chart about it: Tom Schoewe, Wal-Mart’s Chief Financial Officer.
Schoewe graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a bachelor’s of business administration degree in finance. In the early 90’s, Schoewe worked for Black & Decker, initially serving as VP of finance. Schoewe became Black & Decker’s CFO in 1993, the same year the tool company won Wal-Mart’s “Vendor of the Year” award. Schoewe joined Wal-Mart in 2000. According to Wal-Mart’s website, Schoewe “is responsible for treasury, tax, accounting and control, business planning and analysis, internal auditing, and several other key areas of the company. In addition, during June 2005, the lead financial executive in each of the operating segments (Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and International) began reporting directly to him.”
Thomas Schoewe is on the Board of Directors of Balfour Beatty Construction Group, Inc. and Centex Corporation.

I thought that honor belonged to Lee Scott? Come on WMW, make up your mind. Walmart is the largest company in the world despite all of the lies and distortions WMW and it’s minions on this site who say to the contrary. So I guess the “Booby” award goes to WMW.
Where are the collectible cards for Andrew Stern, Andy Grossman and Alex Goldschmidt? I need something to show my kids when they need examples of failures and what NOT to be when they grow up.

You’re right Mary. Just as it takes more than one person to damage communities and exploit low-paid American workers, it takes more than one person to earn $380 billion. I’ve changed the post accordingly.
Thanks!

Where are the collectible cards...
Mary, I’m going to play “devil’s advocate” for a minute—the folks you mentioned are just making their mark on the world (and a few dollars, to boot).
For me to slam on any of them would be hypocritical as I am a firm believer in earning a paycheck so long as laws are not being broken.
Let’s think about this—if it weren’t for WM, what would these people be doing in their professional lives? Basket-weaving??
The way I see it (though no one will ever admit it), the WMW staffers’ livelihood depends heavily-upon WM’s existence.
Actually, the internet has enough stuff on the WMW staffers --what I’m interested in is seeing trading cards of their “zoo crew”—that way, I could make this statement:
“I’ll trade you my ddrb for your SDV!”
:o)

Alex: Are you planning a David Glass All-Star trading card?As owner of the Kansas City Royals Baseball team(last time I checked),what could be more apprpropriate? But, it does give pause about moving the WalMart managers meeting away from Kansas City to Orlando,Florida-(Glass owned the team since 1993,if I’m not mistaken.)

Gee, that sounds like it takes almost as much intelligence and skill, as it takes collecting carts or stocking shelves!!

Glass does own the Royals.
Alex-
What makes you think Schoewe makes his own pie charts? The original statement was probably more correct. He is a smart man.

I just reread this thread and I must say, Mary, that was nasty even for you.
