Evil, WalMartWatch is also considered an “astroturf” organization.

Walmart, and other large corps, are going to crush American workers until they scream, “Enough!”. Thank you for standing up for what is (or should be) common human decency.

Damn evil Wal-Mart Watch! Why do you hate ‘working families’ so much?

“Why do you hate ‘working families’ so much”
They don’t hate them. They just want their (dues) money. Or to see them lose their jobs. Or to have to pay higher prices for goods and services. But they don’t hate them.

I don’t speak for Wal-Mart Watch - but goodness if some aren’t so biased against unions that they fail to see the good they can do. I know that without the unions like AFL-CIO, my family would have suffered greatly. And I know I’m not the only one.

Spekkio,
“but goodness if some aren’t so biased against unions that they fail to see the good they can do.”
But, on the other hand, some are so biased in favor of unions, they fail to see the harm that they can do. Diverting people into believeing that Wal-Mart causes ALL of the problems in this country, the true basis of those problems are unseen by some. If higher wages and better benefits were the answer to all of the problems of this country (as the unions usually portray as the solution), why not then just make the minimum wage $100.00 an hour and give employees everything they need in benefits, so that they have no problems in their lives? And, then, maybe we could set up a system, where everyone without a job, could just go to the government and have their every need fulfilled!! Do you not think there would be any negative consequences from doing that? Problems aren’t always solved by throwing money at them, most of the time, all you get is MORE problems.

Isn’t that the entire economic platform of the Democratic party?

Higher wages and benefits are the answers to executives of companies problems wouldn’t you say? Tens of millions a year for Lee don’t seem to be doing any harm to him.

I think that the folks who read and post here regularly should read up on logical fallacies. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_fallacy.
Bob in “”,
This is what is known as a “strawman” fallacy. Nobody here (that I have seen) has argued that Wal-Mart is the source of all of the ills in the USA, nor has anyone argued that wages and benefits will fix everything.
Mags in “”,
This is what is known as an “ad hominem” argument. It may please you greatly to insult the Democratic party, but the economic platform of the Democratic party is not outright socialism. This is public knowledge and is available on the Democratic Party’s website (http://www.dnc.org) for your review.
What I don’t understand is how Wal-Mart supporters on this blog come to the conclusion that Wal-Mart’s wages/benefits are acceptable. It has been established elsewhere that Wal-Mart’s wages are below poverty level. It has been established on this very website that Wal-Mart’s health benefits are low enough to require Wal-Mart families to seek public or charitable assistance for healthcare. It has been established that Wal-Mart has engaged in questionable and illegal labor practices, such as locking workers in and requiring them to work without pay. It has been established that Wal-Mart increases the trade deficits of USA/Canada and sells products that are produced in sweatshop conditions.
Are unions perfect? No. Are they the cure to all the world’s ills? No. But can they help? Yes. Unions have a long and proud history of keeping employers in check and improving lives for working people.
