The state of Wisconsin launched an investigation into charges that Wal-Mart fraudulently puts the organic label on products that don't meet USDA standards for these sorts of items. More than mislabeled food, this is yet another example of a Wal-Mart PR blitz without the actual follow-though.
We've identified the person at the USDA who handles product marketing and has the power to launch a nation-wide investigation of Wal-Mart. She can help us get to the bottom of this, but we have to get her attention first. Let her know that Wal-Mart's organics program is all sizzle and no steak today.

STYLE TIPS
- Be polite. You are speaking to an investigator at the USDA - not Wal-Mart.
- Try to be as clear as possible and try to reference any facts you cite.
- If you can, use a personal angle to describe how this issue would affect you.
TALKING POINTS
- Wal-Mart's dishonesty hurts consumers, suppliers, and investors who believed Wal-Mart's hype that they were moving into the growing market for organic food.
- Time and again, Wal-Mart tries to trick folks into thinking it's doing the right thing -- only to try and squeeze out more profits.
- The USDA needs to launch a nation-wide investigation of Wal-Mart to get to the bottom of this.
