Washington, D.C. – Wal-Mart Watch executive director David Nassar today released the following statement in response to a new report by Human Rights Watch detailing widespread labor abuses at Wal-Mart stores:

“The labor abuses outlined in the Human Rights Watch report explain many of the public relations problems currently plaguing the company and hampering its growth. The upscale consumers Wal-Mart covets are concerned about these issues, and that’s why they’re not shopping at Wal-Mart stores. Wal-Mart’s current policies are bad for workers, but they’re also bad for business.”
