The United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) has been working to organize Wal-Mart workers since 2002. The company has spent endless amounts of money to thwart their efforts and has used similar tactics against the union as they have used in the U.S. In this paper, Wal-Mart's shutting down of the Jonquière store (in spite of the card check majority) is highlighted as one of the company's more vicious unionbusting operations.This essay also documents the challenges the UFCW faced to organize in Wal-Mart Canada and what lessons can be learned from it.
